Spent the night in Fargo ND. This morning the weather is cool and windy; almost chilly. Driving west on I94 toward Bismark, we saw a motor home driving along slowly on the shoulder. In front of the motor home was a young boy, perhaps 15 years old or so, riding on a skateboard, just letting the wind blow him along. A little while later we passed by a small lake (the’re everywhere up here) and the wind was blowing hard enough to make “white caps” on the surface. I will try to post a video clip. We saw a duck trying to fly into the wind , flapping his wings but going nowhere. For lunch we stopped in Medina, N.D. and had a bowl of “knepfla” (google it). I asked our waitress if the wind always blew like this and she said it did perhaps 75% of the time; about 40 to 50 mph. Made us wonder why all the windmills are in iowa and Minnesota when all of the wind is in North Dakota. Going west from Medina the terrain becomes pretty flat. On toward Bismark it gets more rolling. Stopped briefly this afternoon at Medora at the Teddy Roosevelt State Park where the temp was 57 degrees with 40 mph winds. The wind chill was 45 degrees. I will post some pics of the canyon just behind the visitor center.
